Chalk Paint Chair & Ottoman And Upholstery

My niece bought this chair and ottoman and wanted me to recover. We decided to chalk paint the base of them and only recover the soft parts. We made chalk paint using calcium carbonate, water and Linen color paint. It was a dark green color so it took four coats. I sanded after the 4th coat. It turned out great.

1st coat of paint

4th coat of paint...big difference between top and bottom.

DIY Chalk Paint Armoire

This armoire was given to me but was a painted mess. I wanted to re-paint using chalk paint so I wouldn't have to sand of the different types of paint that was on it. I didn't want to spend the doll hairs on Sloan Chalk paint so I decided to try the recipe Diane Henkler posted on Pinterest (  http://inmyownstyle.com/2013/02/diy-chalk-paint-review-update.html ) using Calcium Carbonate. Worked great and turned out beautiful. I used some blue paint I already had and some tea stain (Ralph Lauren).  The chalk paint was easy to work with.  The final pictures really don't do it justice.

Removing Paint with Rubbing Alcohol

I was given this armoire and it was a painted mess. I didn't want to have to re-paint the dark blue on the inside but whomever painted it for white paint all over the blue. I used some rubbing alcohol to remove unwanted paint and it worked! Interior blue saved! Now to Re-paint everything else.
